How To Become a
Certified Holden QiGong Teacher
- It Starts With Our Immersion Programs: deepening your practice is the beginning of the journey toward becoming a teacher.
- In-Person/Online Teacher Training Workshop: a ten-hour weekend of teacher-specific training. If you can attend in person, please do! If not, the Tier 1 Teacher Training Workshop will be available live online, as well.
- Further Study and Practice: complete your hours with a wide variety of Immersion Programs, Live Workshops, Online Courses, and DVDs.
- Teaching And Evaluation: after completing the coursework, you may begin to teach others. After passing an exam, and 30 hours of teaching, you'll videotape a class for us to evaluate.
- Feedback: implement any feedback we offer you during your testing and evaluation, and we will award your certification!

Tier 1:
200-Hour Certified Holden QiGong Teacher
The beginning: this program empowers you to confidently share Qi Gong with others.
Learn, and then teach fundamental Holden QiGong warm-ups, stretches, flows, and meditations.
Whether you want to teach friends and family, or you want to teach the public, this is where it starts.
Tier 2:
500-Hour Certified Advanced Holden QiGong Teacher
Through teaching experience, and deepening your study of Qi Gong, you're now ready for the next step.
Tier 3:
1000-Hour Certified Senior Holden QiGong Teacher
As your path deepens, you begin to undertake deep, serious study of Qi Gong AND it's underpinnings.
Once you are ready to become a true leader, you'll explore Qi Gong's basis in Taoist philosophy and worldview, Chinese Medicine, as well as how findings in modern science and medicine dovetail with the ancient wisdom of the Taoist Masters.
Once you attain this prestigious level, you will be eligible for evaluation to lead your own in-person Level 1 Immersion Programs.
Tier 4:
2500-Hour Certified Master Holden QiGong Teacher
With nearly a decade of teaching experience, including many Immersions, you're ready to start teaching the teachers.
This is the peak of achievement in the Holden QiGong system - only those who've worked the hardest, studied the deepest, and taught the most.
Once you attain this level, you'll be eligible for evaluation to teach, evaluate, and certify Tier 1 teachers, as well as to open your own Holden QiGong branded studio.
CEUs Available!
Currently, we award 40 CEUs per Level (in-person trainings), via the CA Acupuncture Board.
We will also make every effort to work with your certifying authority to provide CEUs for your field whenever possible.

New, Higher Levels – if you're teaching Qi Gong professionally, you'll want to earn these higher levels over time. Increase your visibility, get business support, attend teacher-only events, and lead much larger programs.
- A Presence on HoldenQiGong.com – we're currently building a new website, and tools to help promote our teachers everywhere. If you're a serious teacher, who wants to grow your student base, you'll want to make an appearance here.
- All Of Your Hours Count – you've already earned our 150-hour certification, and all of those hours count toward our new Tier 1, as well as hours spent working with our DVDs, workshops, or Video Class Subscription.
- Teacher-Specific Curriculum – starting with our weekend-long Teacher Training workshop, in-person or online, and working up to week-long in-person deep dive into the art and business of teaching Qi Gong.
- Increasing Name Recognition – we're building this new brand, Holden QiGong, as we needed a new vehicle to help Lee's work reach a broader audience. Qi Gong is just beginning to enjoy more mainstream awareness in the West, and Lee is poised to be at the forefront of this movement. As we succeed in this, using the Holden QiGong trademark will carry more and more weight in your marketing and promotions.
* PLEASE NOTE: there is one restriction we have to place on existing Lee Holden certified teachers:
As with anyone who has not earned Certified Holden QiGong Teacher designation, you may not use the words "Holden" and "Qigong" together, in that order.
We are legally required to insist on this, in order to protect our new trademark, "Holden QiGong". Otherwise, it can be revoked. (Strange, isn't it? We didn't know you could lose a trademark by failing to enforce it, either.)

Tier 1: Certified Holden QiGong Teacher
Tier 1 Requirements
200 Hours
- Immersion Program: The Five Elements – you must complete, either in-person or online, this immersion program. (40 hours)
- Immersion Program: The Three Treasures – you must complete, either in-person or online, this immersion program. (40 hours)
- Teacher Training Weekend Workshop – you must attend one of these workshops, either online or in person. This year's training will be held in September (10 hours)
- One-On-One – you must complete at least two (2) hours of one-on-one Qi Gong instruction with a Senior instructor. This can be performed either in person or over the internet, assuming your computer and bandwidth support this.
- 30 Hours of Teaching – once you've completed the course work, we'll award you a Certificate of Completion. You must now practice teaching for free - either friends and family, or the general public. (30 hours)

Additional Practice/Training – using the programs of your choice, including: Immersion Programs (including any repeats, which can be done at half price), Medical Qi Gong, DVDs, Video Class Subscription (up to 15 hours), Live Workshop/Events, or Online Courses (58+ hours)
Rights and Responsibilities
- Use Your Title – you have the right to call yourself a "Certified Holden QiGong Teacher" verbally, in your teaching, and in print or online, including marketing and other materials.
- Teach Holden QiGong Fundamentals – you have the right to publicly teach the fundamental warmups, stretches, flows, and meditations that you study deeply during the Level 1 and Level 2 Immersion Programs.
- Get Paid to Teach – you have the right to charge money for classes where you use the Holden QiGong name or methods, provided you teach the fundamentals.
- A Presence on HoldenQiGong.com – we'll add your name and contact information to our online database of Holden QiGong certified teachers.
- Maintaining Your Certification – you have the responsibility to continue your training by adding at least 20 hours of Live/Online Trainings every 2 years. Eligible trainings include: Live Workshops/Events, Medical Qi Gong, and/or Immersion Program training. Note - you may also choose to maintain the Video Class Subscription for one year, which will count for up to 10 of these hours.

Tier 2 Requirements
500 Hours
- Builds On Tier 1 Certification – you need an additional 300 hours of training to become an Advanced teacher.
- Immersion Program: Tao Yin – you must complete this program either online or in person. (40 hours)

- Personal Practice and Additional Training – using the programs of your choice, including: Immersion Programs (including repeating any program at half price), Medical QiGong, DVDs, Video Class Subscription, Live Workshop/Events, or Online Courses (80+ hours)
Rights and Responsibilities
- Use Your Title – you have the right to call yourself a "Certified Advanced Holden QiGong Teacher" verbally, in your teaching, and in print or online, including marketing and other materials.
- Teach More Movements and Meditations – you have the right to begin teaching a wider array of Holden QiGong techniques and methods. Start to develop your own style by focusing on what interests you the most.

- Maintaining Your Certification – you have the responsibility to continue your training by adding at least 20 hours of Live/Online Trainings every 2 years. Note - you may also choose to maintain the Video Class Subscription for one year, which will count for up to 10 of these hours.

Tier 3: Certified Senior Holden QiGong Teacher
Tier 3 Requirements
1000 Hours
- Builds On Tier 2 Certification – you need an additional 500 hours of training and practice to become a Senior teacher.
- Medical QiGong Programs – you must complete, in-person, both levels of Medical QiGong training. Click here for details. (80 hours)
- Advanced Studies in Taoism and Chinese Medicine – you must complete our home study course in Taoist philosophy, Taoist classics, and Chinese Medicine. This program will incorporate a number of classic works. Available in 2019. (80 hours)
- Four Years of Teaching – documented teaching as a Certified Holden QiGong Teacher or Certified Advanced Holden QiGong Teacher for a minimum of fifty (50) hours per year. (200 hours)
- Evaluation and Immersion Program Leadership Training – (optional) become eligible to lead Level 1 Immersion Programs by completing this optional training and being evaluated by Lee or a Certified Master Holden QiGong Teacher. Available in 2019. (40 hours)
- Personal Practice and Additional Training – using the programs of your choice, including: Immersion Programs (may repeat any level at half price), Medical QiGong (may repeat any level at half price), DVDs, Video Class Subscription, Live Workshop/Events, or Online Courses (100+ hours)
Rights and Responsibilities
- Use Your Title – you have the right to call yourself a "Certified Senior Holden QiGong Teacher" verbally, in your teaching, and in print or online, including marketing and other materials.
- Teach All Holden QiGong Movements and Meditations – you have the right to begin teaching the full complement of Holden QiGong techniques and methods, including anything that has been taught in any of the Holden QiGong materials.

Featured on HoldenQiGong.com – you have the right to be featured more prominently on our website. As teachers begin to attain this Senior level, we'll be designing and building ways to showcase them on the web.
- Lead Immersion Programs – (optional) if certified, you have the right to begin teaching the Level 1 Immersion Program (subject to Holden QiGong policies and restrictions, of course).
- Maintaining Your Certification – you have the responsibility to continue your training by adding at least 20 hours of Live/Online Trainings every 2 years. Eligible trainings include: Live Workshops/Events, Medical Qi Gong, and/or Immersion Program training. Note - you may also choose to maintain the Video Class Subscription for one year, which will count for up to 10 of these hours.

Tier 4: Certified Master Holden QiGong Teacher
Tier 4 Requirements
2500 Hours
- Builds On Tier 3 Certification – you need an additional 1500 hours of training and practice to become a Master teacher.
- Repeat All Immersion and Medical Qi Gong Programs – you must have attended all available Qi Gong training levels more than once. (240 hours)
- Personal Studies in Taoism, Chinese Medicine, and Related Topics – you must select a topic or topics of your interest for extensive personal scholarship. (100+ hours)
- Ten Years of Teaching – documented teaching as a Certified Holden QiGong Teacher, Certified Advanced Holden QiGong Teacher, or Certified Senior Holden QiGong Teacher for a minimum of one hundred (100) hours per year. (1000+ hours)
- Evaluation and "Train The Teacher Trainers" Training – (optional) become eligible to lead Teacher Training Workshop and to certify teachers as Tier 1 Certified Holden QiGong Teachers. Available in 2019. (40 hours)
- Evaluation and "Holden QiGong - The Business of QiGong" Training – (optional) become eligible to open your own Holden QiGong branded studio. Available in 2020. (40 hours)
- Personal Practice and Additional Training – using the programs of your choice, including: Immersion Programs (may repeat any level at half price), Medical QiGong (may repeat any level at half price), DVDs, Video Class Subscription, Live Workshop/Events, or Online Courses (120+ hours)
